The theme of his poetry was mostly in the praise of Ali Ibn Abi Talib, Son-in-law of Prophet Mohammad and on the tragedy of Karbala.   Kaif Kirmani has written many Noha’s (lyrical dirge), Munajat (supplication), Qaside (ode), Salam (respectful salutation in poetic form) and few Ghazals (lyric poems).     He was a good orator and used to recite his poetry in congregations known as Mushairas.
